To get a head start on the celebration, read a witchy rom-com like Enchanted to Meet You by Meg Cabot or, if you like your holiday a bit more demonic, try Red Rabbit by Alex Grecian, the historical fiction horror epic about a ragtag posse that must track down a witch through a wild west beset by demons and ghosts.

Romantasy is all the rage lately, and those who swoon over the mash-up of the romance and fantasy genre will love the beginning of the searing new Awakening series from Jennifer L. Armenrout, Fall of Ruin and Wrath.

Debut author Fran Littlewood shines a spotlight on midlife and menopause with Amazing Grace Adams, a funny, touching, unforgettable story of an invisible everywoman pushed to the brink—who finally pushes back. While she’s no newbie, presidential inaugural poet Amanda Gorman and Caldecott Honor-winning illustrator Christian Robinson (Last Stop on Market Street) are giving us new hope and timeless inspiration with their stunning new picture book, Something, Someday.

Academy-Award winning actor Matthew McConaughey is reaching readers big and small with his first picture book, Just Because, filled with a collection of life lessons that empowers everyone to celebrate how we’re all full of possibility. Another celebrity making waves this month is Kerry Washington and her new memoir, Thicker Than Water, where she shares the profoundly moving journey of her life so far, and the bravely intimate story of discovering her truth.
