Forget May flowers. April showers bring a lot of wet, rainy days perfect for sprawling out on the couch with a new book. Despite the endless drizzle, your mood will soar with these dazzling new novels—from rom-coms to searing thrillers, there’s something for everyone’s TBR.

Even though it feels light-years away, summer’s right around the corner, and with it comes beach reads and romantic comedies that beg to be read with piña colada in hand. Just in time for summer reading, Happy Place by Emily Henry will be released on April 25. Named a “Most Anticipated Book of 2023” by BuzzFeed, this glittering new book about a couple that pretends to still be together for a weeklong vacation with their best friends will charm you. More funny romance is coming your way with Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld (April 4), Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez (April 11) and The Nanny by Lana Ferguson (April 11).

For an edgier read, fans of the hit Netflix series You will be ready to devour Caroline Kepnes’ new book out April 25. For You and Only You follows our unreliable narrator Joe Goldberg to the hallowed halls of Harvard, where he earns a coveted place in a writing fellowship...and leaves crimson in his wake. The audiobook, narrated to perfection by Santino Fontana (aka Prince Hans in Frozen), is a must-listen.

Two highly anticipated memoirs of self-discovery make their debut this month: A Living Remedy by Nicole Chung (April 4) and You Could Make This Place Beautiful by Maggie Smith (April 11). For more personal exploration, Gretchen Rubin’s latest discovery on the path to happiness will have all of your senses engaged.
