Kindle now on Peloton: Top books to borrow on Libby for your workout

Share:

There are only so many hours in a day, and balancing a love for reading while maintaining a consistent fitness routine is no easy task. As a fitness enthusiast and avid reader, it felt like Christmas came early when Peloton announced its new partnership with Amazon Kindle. I dropped everything and sprinted to my Peloton Bike to see for myself if the news was true or if I was just dreaming. Here’s what I learned and what books I recommend you check out on the Libby app for your next workout.

Kindle is now accessible on select Peloton equipment

If you have a Peloton Bike, Bike+, Tread, or Tread+, you can now read your Kindle ebooks on Peloton equipment’s large screens while biking, walking, or running. You have all the selections you’d have through the typical Kindle app including page color, font options, text size, and more.

My entire Kindle library was ready for me to read, including my current loans from Libby! Many ebooks borrowed through your local library on Libby can be sent to your Kindle, so you can read across all your devices—including your Peloton workout equipment!

How to send ebooks on Libby to Kindle

If you typically read on the Libby app, here’s how you can access ebooks borrowed through Libby on your Kindle account:

  • Go to your Shelf, then tap loans.
  • Find the title you want to send to your Kindle and tap Read With….
  • Select Kindle.
  • If you aren’t already signed into your Amazon account, you’ll be prompted to sign in.
  • Verify that the device in the “Deliver To” drop-down is the device you want, then select Get Library Book.

Once you send a title to your Kindle, it will default to the option of “Read with Kindle” for the duration of the loan. If you want to switch back to reading with Libby, you can tap Manage Loan, then Read With, and select Libby.

You can switch between reading on Libby or Kindle as much as you like, but note that your reading progress, notes, and highlights won’t sync between Libby and Kindle.

Reading on Peloton

Now that you have your ebooks loaded into your Kindle account, head to your Peloton with your towel and water and open the Entertainment tab. There, you'll see the Kindle app along with Peloton’s other entertainment options. Sign into your Amazon account and you’ll be ready to read and work up a sweat!

Here are some books I’d recommend for your next ride, walk, or run:

If you’re craving cardio...

If you want to get your heart rate up even higher and increase your Strive Score, I’d recommend a thriller read.

All the Colors of the DarkAll the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker

This is a Read with Jenna Book Club pick and The Boston Globe’s #1 thriller/mystery of 2024 so far.

Listen for the LieListen for the Lie by Amy Tintera

A New York Times bestseller, Listen for the Lie is both a thrilling and humorous read.

The ShiningThe Shining by Stephen King

No one knows how to get your heart rate up like “The King of Horror.”

Also highly recommend It or Carrie.

If you need to escape...

If you’d rather be anywhere else than on the bike or treadmill, a fantasy read that lets you escape to another world is the way to go.

Escape from your workout with this stunning historical fantasy novel set on a grand express train taking a dangerous journey.

The SpellshopThe Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst

This new cottagecore tale is a cozy and heartwarming fantasy novel full of stolen spellbooks, unexpected friendships, sweet jams, and even sweeter love.

A Court of Thorns and RosesA Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

If you’ve delayed putting off reading this global phenomenon, escape into the faerie lands of Prythian in this action-packed and sexy book.

If you need a nostalgic distraction...

One of the best distractions can be escaping into an old favorite that makes you think of easier times. The books that invoke nostalgia for each person will vary greatly. But for me, a good middle grade or YA read always does the trick.

The Lightning ThiefThe Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

My personal all-time favorite middle grade read, the Percy Jackson series, offers an escape into the world of monsters and Greek mythology.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's StoneHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling

Personally, I think any list of nostalgic books would be amiss without Harry Potter, and autumn is the perfect time for a re-read of this iconic series.

The Secret GardenThe Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

This story is widely considered to be one of the most important works of children’s literature, and rightfully so. It's a fantastic read, no matter your age.

If you’re a Peloton enthusiast through and through...

Over the years, Peloton instructors have been busy both in and out of the studio. Check out these books written by your favorite instructors!

Activate Your GreatnessActivate Your Greatness by Alex Toussaint

Shut Up and RunShut Up and Run by Robin Arzón

This ultramarathoner, running coach, Vice President/Head Instructor at Peloton, and Founder of Swagger Society, teaches you to "shut up and run" in her inspirational and interactive fitness guide/journal.

XOXO, CodyXOXO, Cody by Cody Rigsby

This book chronicles Cody’s journey from small-town North Carolina to New York City stardom in an empowering story that reveals his secret to success: not taking yourself—or life—too seriously.
