There are only so many hours in a day, and balancing a love for reading while maintaining a consistent fitness routine is no easy task. As a fitness enthusiast and avid reader, it felt like Christmas came early when Peloton announced its new partnership with Amazon Kindle. I dropped everything and sprinted to my Peloton Bike to see for myself if the news was true or if I was just dreaming. Here’s what I learned and what books I recommend you check out on the Libby app for your next workout.
If you have a Peloton Bike, Bike+, Tread, or Tread+, you can now read your Kindle ebooks on Peloton equipment’s large screens while biking, walking, or running. You have all the selections you’d have through the typical Kindle app including page color, font options, text size, and more.
My entire Kindle library was ready for me to read, including my current loans from Libby! Many ebooks borrowed through your local library on Libby can be sent to your Kindle, so you can read across all your devices—including your Peloton workout equipment!
If you typically read on the Libby app, here’s how you can access ebooks borrowed through Libby on your Kindle account:
Once you send a title to your Kindle, it will default to the option of “Read with Kindle” for the duration of the loan. If you want to switch back to reading with Libby, you can tap Manage Loan, then Read With, and select Libby.
You can switch between reading on Libby or Kindle as much as you like, but note that your reading progress, notes, and highlights won’t sync between Libby and Kindle.
Read more about borrowing ebooks with the Libby app on your Kindle or visit Libby Help.
Now that you have your ebooks loaded into your Kindle account, head to your Peloton with your towel and water and open the Entertainment tab. There, you'll see the Kindle app along with Peloton’s other entertainment options. Sign into your Amazon account and you’ll be ready to read and work up a sweat!
If you’re craving cardio...
If you want to get your heart rate up even higher and increase your Strive Score, I’d recommend a thriller read.
All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker
This is a Read with Jenna Book Club pick and The Boston Globe’s #1 thriller/mystery of 2024 so far.
Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera
A New York Times bestseller, Listen for the Lie is both a thrilling and humorous read.
The Shining by Stephen King
No one knows how to get your heart rate up like “The King of Horror.”
Also highly recommend It or Carrie.
If you need to escape...
If you’d rather be anywhere else than on the bike or treadmill, a fantasy read that lets you escape to another world is the way to go.
The Cautious Traveller’s Guide to the Wastelands by Sarah Brooks
Escape from your workout with this stunning historical fantasy novel set on a grand express train taking a dangerous journey.
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
This new cottagecore tale is a cozy and heartwarming fantasy novel full of stolen spellbooks, unexpected friendships, sweet jams, and even sweeter love.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
If you’ve delayed putting off reading this global phenomenon, escape into the faerie lands of Prythian in this action-packed and sexy book.
If you need a nostalgic distraction...
One of the best distractions can be escaping into an old favorite that makes you think of easier times. The books that invoke nostalgia for each person will vary greatly. But for me, a good middle grade or YA read always does the trick.
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
My personal all-time favorite middle grade read, the Percy Jackson series, offers an escape into the world of monsters and Greek mythology.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling
Personally, I think any list of nostalgic books would be amiss without Harry Potter, and autumn is the perfect time for a re-read of this iconic series.
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
This story is widely considered to be one of the most important works of children’s literature, and rightfully so. It's a fantastic read, no matter your age.
If you’re a Peloton enthusiast through and through...
Over the years, Peloton instructors have been busy both in and out of the studio. Check out these books written by your favorite instructors!
Activate Your Greatness by Alex Toussaint
Alex is known for his grueling workouts where he promises "to kick your ass"—yet thousands keep coming back for more. Why? Because he might be the most motivational teacher out there right now.
Live Learn Love Well by Emma Lovewell
This memoir chronicles Emma’s incredible path to physical―and mental―fitness as she traces her journey to becoming a beloved Peloton instructor.
Shut Up and Run by Robin Arzón
This ultramarathoner, running coach, Vice President/Head Instructor at Peloton, and Founder of Swagger Society, teaches you to "shut up and run" in her inspirational and interactive fitness guide/journal.
