That’s what they wrote: Books by the cast of The Office

Question: What is my biggest obsession?

Fact: The Office.

A while back, I highlighted my other obsession, John Mulaney. But this time, it only feels right to declare my love for the fine people of Dunder Mifflin.

You may be thinking, “Why are you the way that you are?” And honestly? “I can’t help it. I was exposed to Harry Potter as a child.”

Yes, The Office. The nine-season mockumentary-style sitcom that debuted in 2005 is still somehow being binge-watched, quoted, and commonly meme’d in 2026. For a lot of people, it started as a guilty pleasure. But somewhere along the way, it became one of those shows that just does not go away. And honestly, I’m not mad about it.

I’ve been a mega-fan since day one. I respond to coworkers’ messages with Michael Scott GIFs like it’s my job. I’ve dressed up as multiple characters for Libby Halloween parties. (Identity theft is not a joke.) And yes, I’ve even met a few cast members.

But do not worry. This is not just me spiraling about a show that went off the air 13 years ago. This post, dear reader, “has been a dream of mine since lunch, and I am not giving up on it now.”

Today, I’m here to share books written by members of The Office cast available on the Libby app. These titles cover everything from memoirs and essays to cookbooks, kid-friendly reads, and more! Plus I’ve added a bunch of inside jokes… that I hope I can be apart of some day.

So, party like “IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY” and let’s hand out recognitions like we’re at The Dundies.

🏆 Most Anticipated Memoir Dundie goes to: Kate Flannery (aka Meredith)

  1. Overserved

    Overserved

    by Kate Flannery

    🎧 Audiobook

This one is shaping up to be equal parts hilarious and heartfelt, with a release set for November 2026. Known as Dunder Mifflin’s unapologetic Meredith, Kate Flannery dives into her long and messy road to success, from years of rejection and late nights in Hollywood to finally landing her big break at age 40. I will absolutely be listening to this one when it drops. Don’t be “a bunch of prudes” and tag it with Notify Me in Libby.

🏆 The ‘It’s NOT Ashton Kutcher…’ Dundie goes to: Brian Baumgartner (aka Kevin)

  1. Seriously Good Chili Cookbook

    Seriously Good Chili Cookbook

    by Brian Baumgartner

I will not accidentally spill too much about this one. Brian leans all the way into his chili era with a collection of recipes that range from classic to creative. It’s packed with humor, recipes, and tips. You might even get so good at chili that you’ll say, “It’s probably the thing I do best.”

🏆 Defaulting the 'Hottest in the Office' Dundie goes to: BJ Novak (aka Ryan the temp)

  1. The Book With No Pictures

    The Book With No Pictures

    by B. J. Novak

    🎧 Audiobook

This children’s book will have the whole family LOL’ing. What starts like a normal, picture-free book quickly goes completely off the rails. The concept is simple: the reader, usually an adult, has to say every word out loud, no matter how ridiculous it gets. It turns story time into pure chaos, with plenty of giggles along the way.

  2. One More Thing

    One More Thing

    by B. J. Novak

    🎧 Audiobook

A collection of short stories that are funny, strange, and very human. The characters make questionable decisions, overthink everything, and try to figure out love and ambition along the way. So, relatable.

I had the privilege of seeing and meeting “the temp” in person at the Stark County Public Library’s “Speaking of Books” author series. It was great to hear B. J. talk about his time starring on and writing for The Office, his books and his writing process, as well as getting a signed copy of his most recent book.

🏆 'Main Character Energy' Dundie goes to: Mindy Kaling (aka Kelly)

  1. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)

    by Mindy Kaling

    🎧 Audiobook

Mindy is one of the top writer-performers to come out of The Office. She gave us episodes like “The Dundies,” “The Injury,” and “Niagara.” If you disagree, I have questions: Number one: how dare you?! Her books have the same fast-paced, sharp humor that made her stand out on the show.

This is her funny, honest collection of essays about growing up, finding your path, and occasionally feeling like you missed the group chat. It is self-aware, relatable, and very easy to fly through.

  2. Why Not Me?

    Why Not Me?

    by Mindy Kaling

    🎧 Audiobook

This one picks up after success and asks, now what? Mindy talks about confidence, relationships, and navigating life in the spotlight, all with the same humor that makes her feel like someone you know.

🏆 The 'Real-Life Besties' Dundie goes to: Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fischer (aka Angela and Pam)

  1. The Office BFFs

    The Office BFFs

    by Jenna Fischer

    🎧 Audiobook

Because somehow the two biggest on-screen workplace frenemies ended up being best friends in real life...

If you have ever wondered what it was really like behind the scenes, this book delivers. It’s full of stories, photos, and the kind of friendship that clearly carried over from the show.

  2. You Can Make This!

    You Can Make This!

    by Angela Kinsey

If you want recipes that are realistic and not intimidating, this is a great pick. Think weeknight meals, cozy vibes, and food you can actually pull off without stress. I keep a copy in my kitchen in case I need to do a little party planning, like for a dinner or garden party.

  3. The Actor's Life

    The Actor's Life

    by Jenna Fischer

    🎧 Audiobook

Jenna shares what it really takes to build a career in acting, from the awkward early days to finally landing a breakthrough role. It’s practical, honest, and surprisingly motivating. This one gets my “whitest sneakers” stamp of approval.

🏆 The 'Most Earnest' Dundie goes to: Ellie Kemper (aka Erin)

  1. My Squirrel Days

    My Squirrel Days

    by Ellie Kemper

    🎧 Audiobook

This feels like sitting down with a very nice, slightly chaotic friend. Ellie shares stories from her childhood, improv days, and acting career, all with a mix of awkward humor and genuine optimism.

🏆 The 'Assistant to Your Inner Peace' Dundie goes to: Rainn Wilson (aka Dwight)

  1. Soul Boom

    Soul Boom

    by Rainn Wilson

    🎧 Audiobook

If you like big-picture thinking but still want something approachable, this is a great pick. Rainn explores spirituality, purpose, and how we live our lives without making it feel heavy or overwhelming. The Soul Boom Workbook is also available.

  2. The Bassoon King

    The Bassoon King

    by Rainn Wilson

    🎧 Audiobook

A funny and honest look at Rainn’s journey from self-described awkward kid to The Office star. It’s full of strange stories, real struggles, and thoughtful reflections on creativity and identity.

🏆 The 'Here Comes Treble' Dundie goes to: Ed Helms (aka Andy)

  1. SNAFU

    SNAFU

    by Ed Helms

    🎧 Audiobook

If you like weird, unbelievable true stories, this is a fun one. Ed Helms walks through some of history’s biggest missteps, from bizarre Cold War ideas to disasters that probably could have been avoided. It mixes humor with real insight into how things went so wrong… and why they still kind of do.

🏆 The 'Triple Threat (Level Midnight)' Dundie goes to: Craig Robinson (aka Darryl)

  1. Jake the Fake Keeps It Real

Jake the Fake Keeps It Real

    by Craig Robinson

    🎧 Audiobook

This is the first book in a hilarious, illustrated middle-grade series. Jake is a class clown who somehow fakes his way into a fancy arts school and then must keep up the act. It’s chaotic, super relatable, and all about feeling like a fraud while figuring out what you are good at.

  2. Jake the Fake Goes for Laughs

Jake the Fake Goes for Laughs

    by Craig Robinson

    🎧 Audiobook

In the second title, Jake leans fully into being “the funny guy” at school, but it starts to go to his head. As he chases laughs and attention, he risks losing his friends. It’s still goofy and fun, but also dives into what it really means to be talented, and not let it define you.

  3. Jake the Fake Keeps His Cool

Jake the Fake Keeps His Cool

    by Craig Robinson

    🎧 Audiobook

Book 3: Jake is finally settling in, until new pressures hit, from school to friendships to family changes. He’s still cracking jokes and figuring things out, but this one leans more into growing up and trying to stay true to yourself when everything feels a little chaotic.

*Title availability may vary.

Thanks for reading. I hope this post left you satisfied and smiling. It’s a surprisingly eclectic group of titles and there is something here for everyone. Now go have yourself a read, or maybe an hour of television or an hour of napping.
