Remembering Beloved ANZ Authors

We invite you to take a moment to honor the dearly departed voices of literature whose stories have touched readers across Oceania and beyond. This year we’ve lost several remarkable authors from Australia and New Zealand; though these great creatives are no longer with us, their stories are a legacy very much alive.

Sam Neill’s passing last month brought an outpouring of love and grief from communities around the world. Get to know the man behind the iconic roles in his own words through his memoir Did I Ever Tell You This? 

English-born environmentalist Pat Lowe moved to Australia and became an icon in the Aussie book world. Pat passed away in July this year.

Australian pathologist Richard Scolyer, the first man to undergo a bold experimental cancer treatment, passed away in June. His memoir, Brainstorm, details his remarkable contributions to the medical community as a researcher and as a patient.  

Kooma Elder, author, and poet Herb Wharton passed away in May, leaving behind classic First Nations Australian works.
