As a parent, I've become convinced that the best kids' films are the ones where children don't even realise they're learning. Tell them something is educational and suddenly it's the least interesting thing in the world. Wrap those same lessons in a fun story, though? They're completely hooked.
I never have to choose between education and entertainment because it delivers both. And honestly? I'm just as grateful for what it doesn't do. No frantic, overstimulating animations or constant noise competing for their attention. Just thoughtful stories that give kids the space to actually follow along, imagine, and absorb what's happening on screen.
Every now and then, I'll spot a film or read-aloud I grew up with. Watching my daughter discover those same stories for the very first time brings back all the nostalgia. It's one of those quiet reminders that some stories never lose their magic. If you're anything like me, you'll probably end up finding a few old favourites while your little one discovers them for the very first time. Browse these films on Kanopy Kids.
