May’s biggest books

May 01, 2023

Much like the changing season, this month’s most anticipated books are heating up. Life just seems to slow down when the temperatures turn up, and this makes for perfect reading conditions. Luckily, there’s plenty to borrow to make it through the dog days without breaking the bank, thanks to your library and the Libby app.

If you’re planning to entertain this summer, find inspiration in Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Table, Volume 3, out May 2. On the other hand, if you want to be entertained, there are plenty of riveting romances to choose from: Danielle Steel's The Wedding Planner (May 2), The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren (May 16) and a “Most Anticipated Book by Today.com”, Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune (May 2).

A trip to Florida (or even a damp day on your patio) calls for a read of Swamp Story by Dave Barry (May 2), a dark adventure about a Florida caper full of oddballs and more twists and turns than a snake slithering away from a gator. Don’t miss Tom Hanks’ The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece (May 9) about the making of a star-studded, multimillion-dollar superhero action film and the humble comic books that inspired it. Much the like author and legendary actor himself, it’s been called funny, touching and wonderfully thought-provoking.

And what summer reading would be complete without Summer Reading by Jenn McKinlay (May 16)?
