June is just around the corner, which means it’s time for barbeques, beach reads, and ice-cold beverages. But, in my humble opinion, the most exciting thing about June is that it’s Pride Month. Commemorating the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, Pride has been celebrated in some way every June since 1970, when protestors gathered for marches in four cities across the United States.
During this month in particular, we celebrate and honor the LGBTQ+ community both past and present—their joys and triumphs, their beauty and authenticity, their tenacity and perseverance. We remember where we started—in protest and pain. We delight in the joys of the present. And we hold hope for the future.
This June, I invite you to explore the depth and breadth of identities within the LGBTQ+ community by borrowing one—or five—of these recommended reads through the Libby app.
