I'm lucky to spend time on the road as a full-time traveler on the Digital Bookmobile, the 53-ft. truck that visits schools and libraries across the country and teaches readers about the joys of digital books. Back in July, I visited the Ashland Public Library in Ohio and spent the day helping people learn how to use the Libby reading app. At the tail end of the day, I assisted a very friendly gentleman who had a question about how to send ebooks to his Kindle through Libby. After answering his questions and walking him through the steps, he turned to me and said, “Ya know, you should get paid to teach classes on technology.” To say I couldn’t stop smiling the rest of the day would be an understatement. It’s incredibly validating to hear someone confirm that you’ve found the right calling.
Over the last two years, I've been on a mission to perfect a Libby virtual training that's simple to follow, easy to understand and will allow new digital readers to feel confident while learning how to access their library’s ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and resources for continuing education and entertainment. While in the past, my Digital Bookmobile teammate, Joe, and I have hosted these webinars for individual libraries, we knew we wanted to provide an opportunity for any library patron anywhere in the world to attend a session.
That’s why Joe and I have officially launched monthly webinars. Once a month, regardless of what library you frequent, you can register to attend an introductory Libby training from the comfort of your own home. These webinars are perfect for anyone that's new to digital reading or those making the switch from the OverDrive app.
During our webinar, you can expect to learn how to:
Following the webinar, attendees will receive a recording of the session and a Getting Started Training Guide, which breaks down the session into short how-to videos and links to Libby Help. But that’s not all. After feeling comfortable with the basics, you can explore the Tips and Tricks Training Guide so you can learn how to get even more out of your Libby experience.
I hope to see you there!
